Day 11!

Today was Natalie's birthday! She turned 16. We went to the Great Barrier Reef. In the morning, we went on a semi-submersible. That was sweet! We were under water but not wet at all. Kind of like a submarine. We were on that for like 30 minutes. We saw giant clams, coral, and loads of fish. Then we went and put on a wet suit- it covered your ENTIRE body. Your feet to your head. We had a hood that zipped up to your chin- mask, fins, and snorkel. I had to have a child's mask and fins. So we got in the water and our marine biologist showed us all kinds of neat stuff. like a sea cucumber. That felt really gross. It doesn't have a face, just a mouth. So we snorkeled and saw fish and coral then went and ate lunch. After lunch, we went back out to the water and snorkeled some more. Once that ended, we changed and got back on the boat. Oh ya, There was this one guy (who started talking to me first).... For Mr. Jeff's sake, I won't say how old he was. Haha ;) We got off the boat, drove back to Cairns, ate dinner, went shopping, and then bed.

  1. Griffin: What was the coolest fish you saw? Did you see any sharks or stingrays?

Ryan: I saw a shark on Monday. I can't wait to see you at Coker Creek.

Kinsey: I bought you a present last night. I love you and miss you and can't wait for you to get home!

Mom: Snorkeling the barrier reef sounds so great! We are done with baseball, so we are just playing on the beach until we drive home on Saturday. When you call from California, we can give you an idea when we will get you from the Pattys. YL Hannah wants to have all the campers over to the barn Monday night. Good?
    Love you, Mom

  2. Hey Jess, this is dad. It sounds like you are having a great time. I am so excited that you are getting to experience the Australian culture. Thank you for keeping us so well informed on your travels. I hope you are learning more about Australia than you are the male species. Ha HA. Remember we are so shallow that there is not much to learn there. I love you. Keep having fun. Let your light shine down under. Everyone here is looking so forward to seeing you. It will be a little longer for Ry though. See you soon. Stay safe and eat something new and daring for me today. Love Dad.

  3. Hey Jess...sounds like your trip has been a blast! I am envious of the opportunity to try and surf...not so envious about putting on a wet suit. Guess you are probably heading home as I speak. Will definitely look forward to seeing pics and hearing MORE details. Take care- see you soon! Love, Amy Mc
